POT BLACK 'A' 22TH FEB '08

Last week saw the team travel to the Ole Frank, which can certainly be a potential banana skin match. 4 - 0 in the doubles last week saw the captain with no hesitation in selecting the same pairings. How he was repaid by a very professional performance from the players, sealing yet another 4 - 0 victory in the doubles. A notable 180 from Eddy (The Natural) in his doubles match helped to seal the 4 - 0 victory, but it was the first pairing that grabbed all the applause! Alan (Dunston) and Adam (Shrek) recorded a 140, 115 and 110 finish on their way to victory throwing only 18 darts! Well done lads. The skipper kept the ball rolling with a fine victory over Shaun Wilson, followed by a 16 dart game from Danny(Bardy) recording a 101 start, 140 and a 137. The natural was up next, and prior to the match didn't shut up about being the player to seal the victory against the homeguard by notching up the 7 leg! Well he got his chance again this week and guess what. . . . . . failed to rise to the challenge, well done Ed! Next up was me (Linx) to seal the match. Thankful that we were short of players this week (as I'd lost three matches on the trot) I was given another life line. The game wasn't pretty, but I managed to finish the job off and give the team victory. Singles match no. 5 was the match that everyone was talking about afterwards or should I say snoring about???? Kelvin (Moley) was keen to make amends for his defeat to Nigel Knights and get back to winning ways but failed in his attempts, and there were a few! I have tried my best to work out Kelvin's average per dart which I have calculated as follows:

Length of singles match 20 mins
A throw every 25 seconds
Throw length reduced by half for amount of darts thrown at double one

501 - double one = 499 / [1200 seconds / (25 sec / 2) = 5.1979 / 3 darts = 1.73 ave per dart!
(Even Bar-Man Chris (Twitch) Read could average more than this!)

A defeat followed for Adam (Shrek) and also Paul (Hud) before Alan (Dunston) finished the night off with a victory, and a final result of 8 - 4. My special thanks to the kitchen staff at the Ole Frank for the the food! A generous bucket of scampi, cauldron of chicken curry and a crate of chips! That's all I managed to get for myself anyway!!!!!

Happy Darting

Linx
Vice Captain

POT BLACK 'A' 15TH FEB '08

Hi all! 'Whispering' Ryan Lincoln here to keep you up to date with the A-Team. As I wasn't aware that Wally and technology went that well together, I didn't think the web blog was up and running last week! Sorry guys!

What a result for the Pot Black A!, the current defending champions (that's us) had to host the mighty Ex Servicemen's HG, gunning for their 412th title!!! The captain (Craig) called the vice over (Linx) to consult over the team selection and mainly the pairs. We must have got it right as we stormed to a 4 - 0 lead after the doubles, what a fantastic start! Next was the singles and first up was Danny(Bardy). He maintained the momentum and dispatched of Kim 'bear skin' Buckingham to make it 5 - 0 and the team looked liked they couldn't be stopped! Next up was Linx vs Honeyman. Linx showed his nerves of steel as he capitalised on Andy's poor form by missing several doubles before finally . . . . . throwing the game away, doh! 5 - 1 soon became 8 - 1 though, with wins from Craig (Skipper), Eddy (The Natural) and Alan (Dunston). With the victory sealed, the best player in the world, Gary Flatt (Fluffy) started to taunt the HG players by singing lines from that well know song, you are the one and only, sung by the infamous one hit wonder Chesney Hawkes! Fluffy should have realised who was next, before making such comments as Kelvin (Moley with a big holey), made it 8 - 2 quickly followed by another loss from the team as Adam (SHREK) was beaten by the very inform James Carpenter! The last game of the evening saw the clubs favourite take to the oche. That's the clubs favourite loud mouth, beer swilling, obnoxious moron (no it's not me, I already lost, and it's not Fluffy, coz we'd need an extension at the bar to get through his match!) that's right, Paul Harrod (HUD). This guy is loved by everyone in the club and he didn't disappoint the team by finishing on a high to secure an emphatic 9 - 3 victory over our rivals! WE'RE THE BEST IN THE WOOORRRLLLLDDDDD! (Image shows the best in the world stance, demonstrated by yours truly LINX)

POT BLACK B-TEAM 15TH FEB 08

Another Great night made even more sweeter with a fine win away from home for the illustrious Friday "B" team. Railway D were completly shot to bits as we flew into a 7-0 lead and tucked the two points safely in the bag. Could this be our first whitewash of the season? With our star player on next, fresh from his 161 finish at the Kings Head Kessingland, it certainly looked on!!! But word had spread, BILLY BENNETT is a George fan, so much so, that he got his autogragh last year when the Rainbow Gang opened a 'Toys-R-Us' in Colchester! Well, after countless calls of "Oh GEOFFREE!", Billy BUNGLED it & played like a right puppet to boot!! The match ended up a respectable 9-3 , with the after match spoof wedge going to its rightful home, deep into the maestro's pocket!!! Well done the 'A' Mob who inflicted the first defeat, an outstanding landslide victory of 9-3 to the Home Guard. Go on son ! Now for the Marquis!!
