4TH APRIL - MOST WINS CUP

Craig (Skip) was the chosen one for the most wins cup.

Me (Linx) and Gary (Fluffy) had the afternoon off work to play golf, so we would be out early on the beer! That didn't happen as we followed the slowest golfers in the world (and I was really crap!) and took 5 1/2 hours to get round! We made it to the L.T.F.C. by around 20:00, and luckily Craig (Skip) hadn't been called out yet!

While practicing Craig (Skip) hit a 180. He followed it up with another and missed double 12 for a 141 finish! With this sort of form we couldn't wait for his first match! His first match saw him drawn out against the big jon-jer, Karl Bryant. Karl was playing some wonderful darts and Craig (Skip) was stuck in first gear. 1 - 0 soon become 2 - 0 to Karl and had the start in the third leg. Gary (Fluffy) gave some of his encouragement to Craig (Skip), come on for F*** sake, you're lucky it's the best of five this week! Craig (Skip) responded by taking a longer sip of his larger and started to turn the screw! a decent leg saw him peg a leg back and have the start in the fourth. Missed doubles from Craig (Skip) followed by missed winning doubles from Karl, the tension was too much for us to watch! BOOM! 2 - 2 and Craig (Skip) was back in the match. He won the toss of the coin and looked pumped up to finish the match off! The fifth and final leg was the worst of all of them! Plod, plod, plod and some more plodding saw the match go into the closing stages with Karl taking the initative near the end of the leg with an important 123 to leave double top! Craig had to take out 93 to win the match but failed to hit a treble with his first two darts and threw the last in anger to hit a big seven, leaving him 66 instead of a double or 54 at worst! Karl blew his chance and Craig got his one dart at tops, but no joy I'm afraid! Karl held his nerve to win the match and another trophy-less competition for the Pot Black 'A', Lets hope the trebles next week has a more favourable outcome for us?

Back to the Pot Black then lads??? Lets have one more here first, and cheer Matt's (Serious) dad on against Andy Honeyman.

To the bar for another and the view had somewhat improved! Gary (Fluffy) had spilt his second drink down his shirt, probably as he couldn't take his eyes off 'Right Said Fred' nestled in this barmaids bra! They were quite a delightful handful and I wouldn't mind doing a 'motor boat' in those puppies! The glaring and staring didn't stop from then on, and Gary (Fluffy) said I bet Nibs (Mr Subtle) wished he was here!!!

After the drooling stopped we headed back to the Pot Black and a couple of games of liar dice! I was shafted sitting next to Gary (Fluffy) as he hit bloody everything and I had Mr Wall (I call everyone a liar because it's fun) on my either side which meant I was out after four rounds! I managed to suck Mr Wall in on a slightly cocked die which he wanted to accept and it gave me 5 tens! Cheers mate. That aside I was clearly the worst in the world in both matches that night, and Gary (Fluffy) seemed to be the best in the world! Gary (Fluffy) won the first match and was runner up to Wally in the second game. Unbelievable that Darren (Gottsy) the luckiest man in the world didn't feature amongst the winners! Next time Darren!

Trebles next week lads, lets get through in this one please!

28TH MARCH - SINGLES CUP

Me (Linx) and Kelvin (Moley) were the two players that had qualified for the singles cup. We got down the Pot Black early for some much needed practice before going up the Lowestoft Town Football Club.

A long wait, as per usual in these competitions but Kelvin's (Moley) number finally got called out! Late on in the preliminaries, on the board in the other bar. No problems for Kelvin (Moley) as he eased through into round 1. Still a long wait from Kelvin's (Moley) match before my (Linx) number was called out.

Already into round 1 after missing all the preliminary matches, I'd already got as far as Kelvin (Moley). The starting was poor, the scoring was distinctly average but the finishing was on par with Peter 'one dart' Manley! 2 - 0 the score and onto round 2!.

Kelvin's (Moley) next match and mine (Linx) were the same as before. Not pretty but two victories nevertheless, and I continued my 100% checkouts on the doubles including two double tops from 4 legs (get in there!).

Round two for Kelvin to join me in the last sixteen. Someone must have heightened the bar as this was as far as Kelvin (Moley) managed to get! Wasn't long after, before I joined him, as Andy Honeyman proved to be too strong for a struggling fat, bald ba$tard with man flu!

Next year when we do the qualifying, can MORE! people turn up please so me (Linx) and Kelvin (Moley) don't qualify please!!! Well, we have Matt (Serious) or Craig (Skip) representing us in the most wins cup next week so maybe we can make amends for the singles cup!

PS - Thanks for chalking my two wins Fluffy

21ST MARCH (QUARTERS AND SEMIS K/OUT CUP)

Bank holiday, Good Friday and you're STILL expected to turn out for a game of darts.

Venue was the Uplands, and the teams were Pot Black vs Ex-Servicemen 'C' and Ex-Servicemen 'A' vs Ex-Servicemen 'HG'

Well, the draw certainly went in our favour! If we had have played any of the other two teams first it could have been good night, as we started terribly! It was certainly the worst I had played all season (that must have been bad) and I've never seen Paul (Harry Hill) play as bad either (Yes, really, I had never seen him play that BAD).

Paul (Harry Hill) and I (Linx) were the most shocked when we saw I names go down in the trebles, as we couldn't hit a barn door! Luckily we had Adam (Shrek, Rooney, Rogers) with us and he was even worse than us! Craig (Skip) said we were so bad, that he gave us another game as we needed the most practice!

Putting all the $hit performances out of the way (which didn't leave any others) we still managed to edge out a 5 - 3 victory and head into the semi finals.

Who did we have to play then??? We seemed to be paying more attention to this game than our own, which may explain some of the indifferent performances! the 'A' side went into a 3 - 1 lead after the doubles, and eventually won the match 5 - 3 to play us in the semi final.

Over the moon, the Pot Black 'A' lads got straight on the practice board to make sure we were back to our best, and it was a very convincing performance indeed. We won all four doubles matches and Me (Linx), Craig (Skip) and Matt (Serious) wrapped up the match with a 5 - 0 victory. Getting through was great but not as great to hear that the Marquis of Lorne had just been knocked out of the cup by the K.W.M.C. 'A', that was the icing on the cake.

(Picture shows Gary (fluffy) and Danny (Bardy) hearing that the Marquis had been knocked out!)
Well done lads, roll on finals night (Matt you better tell Gemma to hold on a bit longer).

A-TEAM 14TH MARCH '08

Yes it's me your vice skipper Linx, as you can see i still can't get over Eddie's (Natural) phone sock! believe me these Glasses are cooler!

Last game of the season against the Seabreeze and plenty to play for................Can't catch Ex-servicemen HG for first and can't get overtaken by the Marquis of Lorne! We'll have to settle for second place then!

As this game is 4 weeks ago and I don't have the book with the stats, forgive me if I get something's wrong!

The draw was done and the main pick of the night was Steve Bidle vs Craig in the singles. If Craig (Skip) lost and Matt (Serious) won they would be level on most wins for the team! I had been informed by the skip at the start of the night that Eddy (The Natural) was one win ahead of me for the season, obviously the outcome of mine (Linx) and Eddy's (The Natural) matches were the main focus of the night!

We quickly raced into a 3 - 1 lead after the doubles, and within the first three matches Eddy (The Natural) had his chance to secure 3rd most wins for the team! I think Eddy (The Natural) was still traumatised from the mobile phone sock protector that done everything but protect his phone last week!!! It showed in his performance as he managed a 3 dart average of just under 30! and was beaten comfortably! Craig (Skip) was up against the inform Steve Bidle, who was also chasing most wins for the league! It was Steve who came out on top and doing so secured joint most wins in the league!

Matt (Serious) and I (Linx) both secured victories for the team and a decent 9 - 3 win to finish the season off. Well done lads, roll on next week and the K.O. Cup!

Matt (Serious) and Craig (Skip) finished the season on 24 wins from 28 which was only one win off the leagues best of 25 out of 28. Congratulation to Matt (Serious) who managed to win all his matches played this season and remain undefeated! Note, Gary (Fluffy) not losing a game all season counts as undefeated, however, you do NEED to play a game to be included in this category!!!

Joint 3rd in the team for most wins were Me (Linx) and Eddy (The Natural) with 19 out of 28. I played 27 games and Eddy (The Natural) played 26, so I guess I'll have to occupy 4th spot then!

.....

No mention of Paul (HUD) this week so you'll have to make do with this photo instead!

All the best for next week lads

PS - I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank Darren (Gottsy) and Kelvin (Moley) for driving all us drunks every single week. We owe you guys, and we appreciate the lifts you give us. Thanks!
