A-TEAM WRITE UP

DREAM TEAM STAR MAN
SMASHER GEORGE
(NOT SAYING MUCH!)

Still going strong at the top of the league boys with the Pot Black 'B' hot on our tails. A great win against the Hearts of Oak last game meant we were brimming full of confidence going into the match against our nemesis team the Marquis of Lorne!

Last time out we managed to scrape a 7 - 5 victory with the opposition players not even staying to have their sandwiches! No chance of us doing that as . . . .
1/ we're made up of mainly large and obese (me) people.
2/ the food is always fantastic
3/ we're not sore losers

Me and Skip (Craig) discussed the doubles pairings before the draw and concluded the same pairings which would hopefully earn us a 3 - 1 lead after the doubles!!! We managed to secure the 3 - 1 lead which was more than fair, but with the first two matches being clinched on double 1 we made it hard work for ourselves!!!

Well 3 - 1 looked good and the doubles had worked out as we had planned! Maybe we would need 4 - 0 as the night progressed!

With Serious (Matt), Skip and Cobby (Me) on first three matches it seemed like the night could only get better for us especially as the Marquis were missing a few of their regular players!!!

CRASH
BANG
WALLOP

Oh dear the score now read 3 - 4 and it was to the Marquis as we lost all three matches. Liquids (Kelvin) was up next and his recent form went out the window as he was also despatched to make it 5 - 3 to the home side and all we could do was laugh at ourselves or we'd have to kill each other!!! We should have won three of the four singles matches but bad doubling out meant we were in trouble!

The star performer from this campaign, Smasher (Craig G), was next and got things rolling again with a 15 dart leg and the score now stood at 5 - 4. A very ordinary game next from Sheepy (Spence) saw the home team secure the draw with Dunston (Al) and the Snatch-u-ral (Ed) to follow.

A very tidy game under pressure from Dunston meant we'd pegged it back to 6 - 5. Dunston was not impressed that he wasn't offered a drink straight after the match and made sure the noise levels for the last match were well in favour of the away team! - Quote of the night from Dunston - "What's he going to do?... Start on me! Don't make me laugh"

Last match and a very crucial point for us! The Snatch-u-ral vs. Graham Pavey! The home team were shocked just as much as we were when the usually non playing captain (Pavey) scored successive 100's to heap the pressure on Ed! Finally Ed had tidied up the leg to leave a double with Pavey back on 93 which no one gave him a chance on! Next followed . . . . . . 20 . . . . . . . T19 . . . . . . $hit. . . . .oooooo! Thank god it all got to much for him as the dart sailed wide of double 8! Ed was right on the mark next throw to take a point which seemed unlikely halfway through the evening!

That point may play a vital part to the season as it nears to a close next spring!

Lets get back on it next week boys and get those legs up as best we can. We might need them later in the year!

NOTICES
Well done to Ben Williams for passing two ICAEW exams. Only the case study to go now buddy!
Liquids, thanks for driving me this week in the absence of GOTTSFREECABS!
Works parties on Friday nights should be banned for next year guys (PH/Bardy).
Nath (stop enjoying yourself) Hart was up Broadview that evening. He was trying to grow some hair and look ridiculous! In my opinion he reminded me of Gordon Durrie! That's for the pint of Guinness, but enough is enough!!!!
