B-TEAM WRITE UP

(Billy'12 Cabs' hides from the Yarmouth fleet)

Well what a week it’s been in the top flight. The closing of the transfer window, players moving at the last minute and managers leaving high profile positions. Obviously the major story of the week was another club purchase, this time by high-flying middle-easterners with ridiculous amounts of money. No, I don’t mean Manchester City, I’m talking about your very own Pot Black “B” team, who were visited in person this week by their own rich benefactor Darren (The King) of Bahrain. The King, who’s personal fortune has been estimated at well in excess of 550p, flew in to assess the playing staff and negotiate new deals. He immediately showed that he was not afraid to splash cash, by buying a round, and hinted at new signings in the January transfer window with names like Andy Honeyman, Paul Gardener and Craid Harrod being identified as targets.
To the game and, following on from last weeks first win of the season, the potty boys were hoping to contunue the winning ways. A hard fought opening doubles saw victory for myself and Hos but this was followed by a loss for Fester and the Yid. Billy (twelve cabs), playing with Lurch in the absence of regular partner Trev (Mother Theresa) Gooch, restored our advantage but this was cancelled by a loss for Moysie and Oz.
At 2-2, Paul (Lurch) Tyler was first up in the singles and a hard fought game left everyone searching for a skirt for him to borrow after a double one marathon, which he eventually lost. A good win for Hos, followed by a loss for Tommo, before a good game from Bungle and a win for yours truly restored our lead. This was followed by a loss for Ozzie who, if he paired up with Paul Tyler would resemble the strike force at Carrow Road – 78 chances and none taken, before Dave Stride won to give us the lead going into the last game. Moysie stepped up to win and hit the first 180 of the season on the way. Another good win and 2 more points which may prove useful as our next game is away to the HG.
In case any of you are not aware, Trev (The Legend) Gooch, is now also being referred to as Mother Theresa. This follows the day out last week where Wally had to work out how to pay out the “most strikes” money split between three players. In true devious style and, taking inspiration from the programme Golden Balls, Mick (Jasper) Wall told each of the three players they had won on countback. The first two money grabbing toe-rags (Bungle and Hos), both jumped with joy at the thought and danced around the dog track but Trev, when told the same, refused to take the money and suggested it be split three ways. This saintly behaviour was rewarded by Jasper awarding him the whole prize, much to the consternation of the other two, earning him the nick-name of Mother Theresa (from a disgruntled Bungle who we expect to get over it in March 09).
Regular readers may also have noticed the recent referral to good old Bungle as “Billy Twelve Cabs”. This is also a reference to the aforementioned day out. Question: How do you get 26 people from Gt Yarmouth Bowl to the Yarmouth Stadium? Answer: get Billy to phone a cab firm and then, just to make sure phone another firm, then phone another one for back up. The result, Regent Road looking remarkably similar to the end of a certain advertisement from a beer producer that doesn’t do night clubs and 10 jarred off taxi drivers.
The after match activities saw the usual Liar Dice challenge, unfortunately reduced to a penalty shoot-out by reduction to 2 lives each due to the large number of players (ok I’m bitter because I didn’t win). The eventual winner was Mick (Jasper) Wall, playing from the most difficult position of immediately to the left of Billy (hit everything I throw) Bennett. Wally had positioned himself between Billy and Moysie, which enabled the latter to make the final and avoided any potential hazards from low flying toys, teddies and rattles!

That’s the end of this weeks lengthy ramble. I will be away for a couple of weeks so will see you when I get back.

All the best

29/08/08 A-Team V's M of L

This is getting hard work now! I must make sure that I update this every week!

29/08/08 vs M of L (Our bogey team)

Skipper (Craigo) was off to get married and thankfully he took HUD (Paul) with him!

Tough call this week as I was left with the captaincy! Fluffy, Sherman (Gotts) and Dead Beat (Hitcham) all waiting in the wings, but I had to go with my instincts, and play a straight 8, which didn't include these guys!

Well what could I expect from us other than absolute crapness! 3 - 1 down in the doubles and no-one looked like they could hit the cows arse with a banjo. Maybe me and Kelvin could have hit it with a guitar, but the other would have needed cellos at best!

Two big singles games up first and we failed to perform, just as the away team failed to hit their doubles!!! Cha Ching! 3 - 1 down became 3 - 3 and we thought a draw was back on the cards, and hopefully a victory!

I was in confident mood despite our poor start as Serious (Matty), Dunston (Al) and Me had the next three legs to play. Win, Win, Win saw us secure the draw, and a decent performance from Dunston with a 125 and 157fn. Next was the new kid on the block (Smasher) and he made us sweat a bit before finally picking off double 9!

The next two singles went against us but we we're more than happy with the result! This was more than could be said for the away team as they were out of the door before the food could be dished out.......BOO! - Fair play to Waterson and Hunt who stayed behind to sample the KFC chip butties!

Other Events

Sheepy (Spence) had his first practice of the season on the dart board after joining in with the team rather than snooker, fruit machine, snooker, fruit machine, quiz machine, fruit machine, fruit machine!

Broadview again next week then?

22/08/08 A-Team V's Hearts

(Another Result for the Sherminator!!!)

Just had a coffee break, and I'm back again! Don't know how Sherman (Gottsy) can manage to chat all day on Face book to a bird from South Africa that he'll never get to see!!! She must have some naked pictures of herself? I'll try and get him to post them on the blog soon!

22/08/08 vs Hearts

First away game and a tricky one! Beer more than £1 dearer than the Pot Black saw some of the guys take up the Artois challenge and get some value for money!

A great start in the doubles saw Dunston (Al) and Sheepy (Spence) take a 1 - 0 lead with a couple of high scores for Sheepy. Me and Liquids (Kelvin) got a right pasting from J Mills and D James as they hit 3 high scores and never gave us a look in! Back on track as we took the next two doubles matches to lead 3 - 1. Serious managing to record his first 180 of the season. Wonder if you'll break your old records?

On to the singles and the gear change!!!

The Skipper (Craigo) got things underway with a 17 dart game, and we never looked back! SMASHER (C George) made it 5 - 1 and got his singles career at the Pot Black of to a great start. Further wins followed for Bardy (Bardy), Dunston (Al) and Liquids (Kelvin) as we secured the win 8 - 1. Next was Natural (Ed) against D Duck's brother but the Duck had too much talent for our veteran warrior!

Two games left meant two more to win, and that's what me and Serious managed! 17 Darts from me (I'll just wait a while for you guys to pick yourselves back up) . . . . . . . . . .

. . . . .

. . . . .

. . . . .

You still with me? It would have been less if I could hit a bloody double! But Serious had the final say as he bettered both 17 dart games me and Skip had with a tidy little 16 darter, but no 180!

Fantastic result boys 10 - 2

Other News

Barry's chilli and Hot Dogs were spot on!

Sherman (Gottsy) was persistent as we all went to Broadview, but there were only guys in the car on the way home! Better luck next week?

15/08/08 A-Team V's Ex Ser 'A'

Doh! 4 weeks of blog pages to write up........Can't wait!

Been getting nagged by the guys to sort out the bloody blog pages for the past 4 weeks! well, It was mainly Serious (Matty) after he hit back to back 180's in the doubles against the K.W.M.C. and wants everyone to see how special he is! That's all you're getting Matt, aka "Put her through the wall"

15/08/08 vs Ex Ser 'A'

One match played and a one victory! It all seems such a long time ago now but I'll just remind you all that we beat L.T.S.F.C 'A' 11 - 1 and the 1 was HUD (Paul) ! (Chezny)

After only one match and a game in the doubles the week before, Shrek (Adam) couldn't see a way to break into the dream team singles so called it a day! This gave an opportunity for debutant SMASHER (Craig George) to make an appearance......Oh, he would have but he went to the V festival......wait, he spent £200 on the tickets from a bogus website which never turned up, so he was at darts! (Bit confusing if you don't play for the 'A' team) That meant a game of doubles, a 140 and a victory. Well done buddy!

A good start from the team saw us take a 3 - 1 lead with wins from C Harrod/P Harrod, R Lincoln/K Self and M Hook/C George.

All seemed like it was going to plan, but the Ex Serv 'A' had other ideas and notched up two quick wins against Dunston (Alan) and Skip (Craigo). The pressure seemed to be back on us, but Paul soon put that to rest and I followed it up to take the score 5 - 3 in our favour. A slip up for our drinking specialist Liquids (Kelvin) gave them some hope, but we took the following 3 legs with wins from Tracy (Ed), Bardy (Bardy) and Serious (Matty).

A decent result at 8 - 4 meant two wins from two, and bring on next week.

Other events

So long ago I can't really remember!!!!!!!

Oh, yes.....I won both games of spoof and Liar dice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AWAY-DAY AT YARR-MOUTH

A coach of 24 so-called dart players, hanger-ons, crap footballers & one extremely doubtful Olympic Boxer went ten pin bowling with a shed load of cash at stake. The Quiff (Tony Atkinson) ponced about like a ballerina with thrush, throwing the ball so slow it didn't even record on the speed monitor. Max Wall, the spawn of the guvnor, picked up a few 'spares' but like all his women confirmed he couldn't keep it up! Butch, P.B. goal keeper, the only player to get injured in the Pre-season warm-up, had the crowd roaring with his post strike celebration routines, its just a pity we only saw two of them! The cash went as follows:- 1st. £30Quiff & Hos , £20 Wally & the Mr Know-all Sam, 3rd,£20 The roly-poly's Linx & Kelvin .Most spares Quiff £20(it's getting boring Tony) and finally most strikes went to the Virgin Mary Trevor Gooch who tried to share the money between the 3 winners but the other two Greedy B******s Hos & 'Gobby' Billy wanted all the winnings to themselves, so got bugger-all!!!

Justin, the manager at Yarmouth Greyhound Stadium, was wetting himself when he caught sight of 24 drunken souls filing into the executive lounge, but he had nothing to fear because like every excursion which is associated with the Infamous P.B. Club they were a credit to the British public, drinking a lot, betting a lot, having a laugh at themselves and behaving impeccably!!

Most people got a win or two but if anyone had to be singled out as a 'jammy' sod it had to be the recently 'loved' up Jock, Thommo, who only told us the hot tips AFTER the race had finished!
HOT NEWS Billy Bennett has just got out of James Paget after having a operation on his Oesophagus (throat to me & you). With the aid of the small cavity they've left open he's pleased to announce that he will now NOT have to stop, to draw breath and will be able to talk CONTINUOUSLY!!

B-TEAM FRI 29TH AUGUST

An away trip to the marquis and the potty boys still searching for their first win of the season. It started to look ominous when our opening pair of Bungle and the legend (soon to be re-named Mother Theresa and Billy 12 cabs, but thats another story) lost the first game. There then followed a very strange occurrence with our guys recording seven straight wins, to not only give us our first win of the season but to do it with four games in hand! Unfortunately we could not keep it going with Paul Tyler and Dave Stride both losing before wins for Trev and Oz wrapped up a creditable 9-3 victory. This could be what we need to kick start our season and we are now looking forward to a home game next week against Ex Servicemens D (yes it has been a couple of weeks since we played one of their teams so we knew it was due!). Lets see if we can keep the momentum going.

All the best
